Located in Tagaytay City, Mother Teresa Spinelli’s Treasures was established in 2001 by the Augustinian Sisters Servants of Jesus and Mary. This sanctuary provides shelter, care, and education to children who have been abandoned, neglected, or surrendered, offering them a safe space to grow and thrive.

The volunteers—nuns, mothers, workers—who sustain this mission do so with unwavering faith and determination. Their daily efforts to nurture, teach, and uplift these children often come with significant challenges—limited resources, emotional demands, and the tireless pursuit of sustainable support. Yet, their resolve is a powerful testament to the transformative impact of selfless dedication and love.

Hey there! I’m Rodly…

You can call me Rod, for short.

I joined nXscale in 2021 as a Team Assistant, eager to start my career. It was a dream come true to be part of such a dynamic team and work setup. The support and fun times with the team are great, and I quickly found myself thriving in this environment.

Fast forward to today, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to grow within the company and contribute to the team as a Digital Marketing Associate. This position has allowed me to blend creativity with strategy, inspiring projects we tackle together as a team. It wasn’t just a job—it was a place where my contributions were valued and where I could see the impact of my work.

This featured profile holds a very special place in my heart because it kicks off an important month for me and for many women. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I want to dedicate this to all my breast sisters who fought, survived, and are still fighting breast cancer. I understand and appreciate the need for awareness, because I myself am a cancer survivor, too.

…and this is my story.

When Life Throws Curveballs

Just as the world made a huge adjustment and adapted to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was hit with my own adjustment in dealing with breast cancer. It was definitely a huge curveball that got me emotional, frustrated, and made me feel that my life was at a standstill. The plans I had so carefully laid out seemed irrelevant in the face of a life-threatening illness.

The realization that I have breast cancer really tested me. It forced me to confront my beliefs and reevaluate what truly matters to me. I had to put my dreams on hold and focus all my energy on getting better and soldiering through the treatment process. Amidst the uncertainty and fear, I kept wishing for better days and opted to start carving a new path. I knew I had the potential but I had to make an effort to have an opportunity.

Rebuilding One Step at a Time

As I slowly recovered halfway through 2021, I made a decision that I needed to catch up. I was so eager to start working. I wasn’t even a degree holder; I took online courses but nothing seems to cut it when I don’t have the required skills and credentials. Of course, it broke me down a little bit, but I used every opportunity and connections I had to start somewhere. I had to rebuild where I stopped even though I had to do it step at a time.

Until Waise, a good friend of mine and a brother figure, used his connections to introduce me to Frank, who helped me join the nXscale team. While I began with smaller tasks, I’ve realized that optimism alone isn’t enough. There’s still much to learn about remote work, but I’m committed to excelling at my responsibilities and supporting the team in any way possible. With the supportive environment and flexible work arrangements, I knew I wanted to pursue this job with nXscale. Every small accomplishment, every new skill learned, was a victory.

We all have our own ways of determining success. Mine was in 2023 after I had undergone surgery and became a Digital Marketing Associate. I finally grasped the dreams that seemed out of my reach before. It became clear to me that all the efforts, dedication, and commitment are worth it.

      The first quarter of 2024 went by like a blur—a meaningful one, if you can call it that. Many things have happened since nXscale started, and we wanted to look back and see how far we’ve come and if we have kept ourselves grounded. The best way to determine this is to go back to our core mission and vision—building a team of capable, dedicated, and highly efficient Filipino professionals that will help bring global businesses and startups closer to their goal of operational efficiency and scalability.

      Humble Beginnings

      nXscale started out during a very uncertain time in 2020, but we had a vision of making a change, no matter how small. That vision has never wavered, with our team doing its very best to provide opportunities for talented Filipinos to work for promising startups and businesses from different parts of the world. In the quest to grow the business, we’ve also grown ourselves through learnings that reaffirmed our main objective.

      Lofty Ambitions

      Working with clients from different parts of the globe, we’ve learned through the years that our business concerns are both different and similar in many respects. In the past month, we’ve talked to potential clients and investors and discovered that what we offer is as valuable as ever, especially in the current business landscape. At the recent Philippine Business Forum and Presentation of Business Agreements in Melbourne hosted by the Australian-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (ANZCHAM), nXscale had the chance to make our case for Philippine outsourcing by highlighting our lean team and the vast pool of world-class talent that can be found in the Philippines.

      While in Australia, we took the time to also meet with potential clients and investors to give them a better understanding of what we offer and how we can support them through their outsourcing journey in the Philippines. It was an uplifting and productive experience as many shared how valuable they consider our services and, at the same time, provided some insights into how we can improve and do better.

Kei joined speakers from a variety of companies in tackling issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and how no single approach works for different organizations. Attendees enjoyed anecdotes from guest speakers detailing how they helped empower women and PWD’s in the workplace. Ultimately, the goal is compassion and empathy for all, and looking beyond the physical and embracing the entirety of the human experience.
